背面描述 The European Union flag, depicted as a waving banner on a staff bearing twelve five-pointed stars arranged in a circle, occupies the left-center of the field. The large numeral 1 dominates the right side of the field against a striated background. An oval cartouche at the base of the flagpole bears the word SPECIMEN. Diagonal lines in the lower field and flanking margins provide a decorative background element.

附加信息

The Battle of Jersey, fought on 6 January 1781, was a failed French attempt to seize the island by surprise. The landing force under Baron de Rullecourt was largely neutralized when Major Francis Peirson — just 24 years old — led the counterattack at Royal Square in St. Helier, killing de Rullecourt and routing the invasion. Peirson was killed in the same exchange.

This 2003 Specimen issue marks the 222nd anniversary of that engagement, struck to collector standard rather than for circulation. The copper-plated steel composition was by then Jersey's standard for the denomination, having displaced solid bronze in the early 1990s.
