| Obverse description | Right-facing three-quarter bust effigy of President Balthazar Johannes Vorster occupies the central field, rendered in naturalistic relief. A bilingual legend arcs around the periphery, reading 'SUID-AFRIKA' above in Afrikaans and 'SOUTH AFRICA' continuing in English. The date '1982' appears in the lower exergual area, flanked by decorative stops. The engraver's initials 'LDL' are present in the lower field.
