| Opmerkingen |
Trade coupons of this type filled a practical gap in small-denomination commerce during the 1920s, when cent-level change was chronically scarce in rural and small-town Indiana retail. Allison's — almost certainly a general store or regional merchant rather than a financial institution — issued these credit coupon cheques as redeemable scrip against future purchases, not as legal tender.
The 68 × 21 mm slip format is characteristic of coupon-book scrip meant to be torn from a bound booklet at point of sale.
