Liberia's 1937 coinage was struck under contract in Philadelphia — the U.S. Mint having long served as the practical issuing authority for a republic whose monetary system was deeply entangled with American financial oversight. The 1937 series marked one of the few pre-war mintings before circulation coinage effectively ceased during the Second World War, leaving these pieces with limited wear in surviving examples.
