| Reverse description | Full equestrian figure of Saint Constance (San Costanzo), the patron saint of Saluzzo, depicted in armour riding a prancing horse to the right and carrying a lance or staff. The saint wears a plumed helmet and full plate armour, rendered with considerable detail typical of late 15th-century Italian die-engraving. The central device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend SANCT. CONSTANTIVS. distributed around the periphery. The irregular flan, characteristic of hammered coinage of the period, is evident at the coin's edges. |
