Beschrijving voorzijde Central field occupied by an ornate, multi-quartered shield displaying the complex heraldic arms of Montferrat, incorporating elements including the cross of Jerusalem, the Paleologus arms, and various dynastic quarterings, rendered in the late medieval style characteristic of hammered billon coinage. The shield is presented without a helmet or mantling, emphasizing the purely armorial character of the design. A circular Latin legend surrounds the shield, reading MARGA·PALE·DVC·MAN·MAR·MO·FE, referencing the titles of the Gonzaga-Paleologus rulers of Montferrat and Mantua. The lettering is separated by ornamental dots and follows the inner border of the coin's circumference. The die-work reflects the Italian Renaissance workshop tradition of the mid-sixteenth century.

Beschrijving keerzijde Central field features a crowned shield bearing the four-fold arms of Mantua, composed of four quarters each displaying a displayed eagle, arranged symmetrically around a central point beneath an elaborate crown. The quartered eagle device is a hallmark of the Gonzaga dukes of Mantua and is rendered with fine heraldic detail consistent with mid-sixteenth-century Italian hammered coinage. A circular Latin legend encircles the central device, reading FRAN·GON·DV·MA(N)·MAR·MO·F, identifying Francesco Gonzaga as Duke of Mantua and Marquis of Montferrat. Dot separators punctuate the legend at regular intervals. The overall composition is typical of the prestigious dynastic coinage issued by the Gonzaga-Paleologus rulers during this period.
