| Beschrijving voorzijde | Heavily worn field bearing the device of a horse passant, rendered in low relief consistent with hammered coinage of the Neapolitan mint under Charles V. The motif, which gives this denomination its name (cavallo, meaning horse), occupies the central field. The Latin legend PLVS : VLTRA, the personal motto of Emperor Charles V, appears along the lower periphery. The flan is irregular in shape, typical of hand-struck copper coinage of the period, and the surface displays a thick, dark patina with areas of green corrosion. |
