Obverse description Central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters in regular (Li) script, arranged in cruciform reading order: top, bottom, right, left, forming the legend Zhou Yuan Tong Bao. The characters are boldly cast in raised relief within a plain inner rim bordering the central hole, and enclosed by a raised outer rim. The broad flat field between the inner and outer rims shows the characteristic open, unadorned style typical of Western Liao cash coinage. The coin exhibits an aged green-brown patina consistent with bronze burial or long circulation.

Reverse description Plain, unadorned field with a raised inner rim surrounding the central square perforation and a raised outer rim. A single prominent raised dot is present in the lower field, directly below the square hole, serving as a distinguishing type marker (Type 3). The surface displays an even green-grey patina with areas of light encrustation, consistent with the coin's age and cast bronze fabric.
