| 表面の説明 | Central square hole surrounded by a plain raised inner rim and a broad flat field bearing four Chinese characters in clerical script (lishu), arranged in cruciform reading order — top, bottom, right, left — reading 治平元寶 (Zhiping Yuanbao). The characters are boldly rendered with the characteristic horizontal emphasis and squared strokes of the lishu style. A raised outer rim borders the coin. The reverse is plain and uniface, showing only the square central perforation flanked by a lightly textured field and concentric raised rims. |

Zhiping was the final reign title of Emperor Yingzong, who ruled for just four years before dying at thirty-five, likely from a mental illness that had already incapacitated him for much of his reign — leaving effective power with Empress Dowager Cao as regent. The coinage was produced accordingly, without particular distinction or political urgency. Hartill records this clerical script variety as the more common of the two script types for the issue, the running script alternative being considerably scarcer.
