The Zhenglong reign period lasted only four years under Emperor Hailing, one of the Jin Dynasty's most erratic rulers — a man who relocated the capital from Huining to Yanjing (modern Beijing) in 1153 and whose military overreach ultimately ended in his assassination by his own officers in 1161 during a disastrous invasion of the Southern Song. Coins bearing his reign title were produced for barely three of those four years before the campaign collapsed.
The Zhenglong Yuanbao is catalogued across multiple reference systems with minor variety distinctions in character form and stroke thickness, particularly noted in the Ding Fubao references.
