Obverse description Round cast bronze coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central hole, reading clockwise from the top: 正 (Zheng), 隆 (Long), 元 (Yuan), 寶 (Bao), together forming the reign title legend 'Zhenglong Yuanbao'. The characters are bold and deeply cast in relief against a flat field. The coin is encircled by a plain raised outer rim, and the overall patina is a rich green-brown consistent with aged bronze.
