Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features six large Chinese characters arranged around a central dotted oval cartouche containing two smaller characters. Reading in traditional right-to-left fashion, the legend comprises the reign title 'Xuantong' (宣統) at upper right and upper left, the cyclical date 'Ji You' (己酉, corresponding to 1909) flanking the cartouche at centre left and right, and the denomination legend 'Yi Wen' (一文, One Cash) at the base. The characters are rendered in bold regular script (kaishu) in high relief against a flat, unadorned field, with no additional decorative elements or border beading beyond the raised rim.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse depicts a coiling five-clawed Imperial dragon rendered in high relief, its sinuous body curving around the central field in the traditional Chinese style. The dragon's scaled body, clawed feet, and flame-like mane are rendered with fine detail, encircling a prominent flaming pearl at the centre of the field. Auspicious cloud scrolls and flame motifs fill the surrounding field, with the dragon's head oriented toward the upper portion of the coin and its tail curling toward the lower right. No border legend is present; the design fills the field to the raised rim.
