| Obverse description | Cast tin token of irregular rectangular form with characteristic concave-lobed corners at all four angles, evoking a traditional Chinese cash token planchet. The central field features a raised, recessed cartouche of rounded oblong form bearing three traditional Chinese characters arranged vertically from top to bottom in regular script (kaishu): 新瑞源 (Xīn Ruì Yuán), identifying the issuing merchant house or trading firm.
