| Obverse description | Cast bronze cash coin with a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim. Four Chinese characters in Regular script (Kaishu) are arranged around the central hole and read clockwise from the top: 祥 (Xiang), 符 (Fu), 元 (Yuan), 寶 (Bao), forming the reign-era inscription 祥符元寶 (Xiangfu Yuanbao). The characters are bold and well-defined in relief, set within the inner field between the square rim and the outer circular rim. The coin exhibits typical Northern Song casting quality with a flat, undecorated field. |
