| Obverse description | Round tin cash coin with a central square perforation, struck in the style of the Northern Song dynasty Xiangfu Tongbao coinage. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged in cruciform fashion around the square hole, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 祥 (Xiang), 符 (Fu), 通 (Tong), 寶 (Bao). The legends are crudely rendered compared to genuine Song imperial issues, reflecting local imitative casting on the Malay peninsula. The coin surface displays heavy patination and uneven casting typical of tin emergency issues, with a plain raised rim encircling the field. |
