| Obverse description | Central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform reading order: top to bottom and right to left, reading 咸豐通寶 (Xianfeng Tongbao). The legends are cast in low relief against a flat, unadorned field, bordered by an inner square rim enclosing the central hole and an outer circular rim. The coin exhibits the classic formal calligraphic style characteristic of Qing dynasty cash coinage. |
