The characters are boldly cast in raised relief against a flat field, with no additional decorative elements. The square perforation at center is cleanly defined with straight inner rims. The overall calligraphic style is characteristic of the large-type Xianfeng cash issues struck at the Suzhou Mint during the reign of the Xianfeng Emperor (r. 1851–1861). |
