| Obverse description | Cast iron coin of traditional Chinese cash form, featuring a central square perforation flanked by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) disposed in cruciform arrangement within the plain field. The reign title reads 咸豐通寶 (Xianfeng Tongbao), with 咸豐 (Xianfeng) positioned vertically on the top-bottom axis and 通寶 (Tongbao, meaning 'circulating treasure') on the horizontal axis. The raised characters are bold and slightly irregular in relief, consistent with iron casting of the period. The coin is bounded by a plain raised rim with no additional decorative elements. |
