| Reverse description | The reverse is plain save for two Manchu script characters cast in raised relief, one on each side of the central square hole, reading horizontally: ᠪᠣᠣ (Boo) to the right and ᠨᠠᠨ (Nan) to the left, together forming the mint name Boo-nan, denoting the Hunan provincial mint. The characters are rendered in the vertical Manchu script style, flanking the perforation symmetrically. The surrounding field is flat and unadorned, bounded by a plain raised outer rim. |
