| Obverse description | Cast brass cash coin centred on a square central perforation, with four Chinese characters rendered in regular script (kaishu) occupying the four cardinal positions around the hole. The legend reads top-bottom, right-left: 咸 (top), 豐 (bottom), 通 (right), 寶 (left), forming the reign title and denomination inscription 咸豐通寶 (Xianfeng Tongbao). The characters are contained within a plain raised rim, with no additional decorative elements in the flat field. |
