| Obverse description | Cast iron cash coin featuring four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square perforation, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 咸豐通寶 (Xianfeng Tongbao), translating as 'Xianfeng [era] universal currency.' The characters are rendered in raised relief within a plain, unadorned field, framed by an outer rim and the inner rim of the square hole. The overall surface exhibits the characteristic textured finish of cast iron production, with no additional decorative elements. |
