Beschrijving keerzijde Central square hole flanked by two Manchu script characters reading vertically, divided by the perforation: 'Boo' to the left and 'Chuwan' to the right, identifying the Board of Revenue Mint at Chengdu (Sichuan). A distinctive raised dot appears above the square hole, serving as the variety marker referenced in Hartill. The reverse field is otherwise plain, bounded by raised inner and outer rims consistent with standard Qing cast cash types.

Aanvullende informatie

The Boo-chuwan mint operated in Chengdu under the Board of Revenue's provincial network during the Xianfeng reign — a period when the Qing monetary system was under acute strain from the Taiping Rebellion and the catastrophic debasement that followed. Standard cash coins gave way to a bewildering array of emergency denominations and alloy substitutions across provincial mints, making precise attribution of even routine issues genuinely difficult. The dot variety on this piece is a minor die distinction that differentiates it within Hartill's classification but carries no known administrative significance.
