| 正面描述 | Central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese ideograms in traditional regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform fashion to be read top to bottom, right to left, reading 望雲惹鹞 (Weiyun Reyao). The characters are cast in moderate relief against a flat field, with no additional decorative elements. The coin is bounded by a plain raised rim, slightly irregular due to the hand-cast production method typical of Bangka tin emergency coinage. |

Bangka Island, off the southeastern coast of Sumatra, held some of the richest alluvial tin deposits in the world, and the Dutch VOC — and later the colonial administration — exploited them relentlessly from the early eighteenth century onward. These cast tin cash pieces were produced locally for use among the Chinese mining labor force, whose familiarity with cash coinage made them the practical currency of the tin camps rather than Dutch issues. The century-plus production window reflects not a single continuous issue but repeated recastings as coins wore, were melted, or were simply lost in the sluices.
