| Obverse description | Four Chinese characters in running script (cursive style) arranged in the four quadrants around a central square hole, reading top to bottom and right to left: 永 (top), 通 (right), 壽 (bottom), 寶 (left), forming the reign legend Vĩnh Thọ Thông Bảo. The characters are rendered in a fluid, cursive hand with pronounced brushstroke character, contained within a raised outer rim. The central square perforation is framed by a raised square border, and the coin field is otherwise plain. |
