| Obverse description | Central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim, with four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) disposed in the four cardinal positions around the central hole, read top-to-bottom and right-to-left. The four-character reign title legend 永寧通寶 occupies the field between the inner square rim and the outer raised border. The flat, unadorned field displays the cast characters in moderate relief typical of Vietnamese Lê dynasty cash coinage. |
