| Obverse description | Sogdian inscription arranged concentrically around a central square hole, occupying the full field of the flan. The legend, executed in Sogdian script, reads 'brgwm`n MLK`' (King Varkhuman), the ruling title and name of the Sogdian monarch of Samarqand. The characters are rendered in a cursive Sogdian hand typical of mid-seventh century coinage from the region. The broad, flat field shows the characteristic casting marks associated with Sogdian bronze issues of this period. |

| Reverse description | Plain field featuring two tamghas, the dynastic emblems of the Samarqand rulers, positioned on either side of the central square hole. The primary tamgha of Samarqand appears to the right of the hole, while a secondary, additional tamgha is placed to the left. Both symbols are cast in low relief against a flat, unadorned field, consistent with the aniconic reverse types characteristic of Sogdian coinage of the Ikhshidid dynasty during the seventh century. |
