| Obverse description | A stylized trident (trishula) occupies the central field, its shaft rising from a coiled serpent body and flanked by scrolling foliate ornaments. A cluster of globular pellets adorns the upper portion of the design, arranged in an arc above the trident head. The Malayalam era date 991, rendered in Tamil-script numerals, appears in the lower field beneath the trident. The entire design is enclosed within a plain circular border. The coin corresponds to 1815–16 AD in the Gregorian calendar, calculated by adding 825 to the Malayalam era year. |
