| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central square hole framed by a raised inner rim and an outer beaded border. Four bold Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) occupy the four cardinal quadrants around the central perforation, reading top, right, bottom, left as 同 (Tong), 通 (Tong), 治 (Zhi), 寶 (Bao), forming the reign title and currency inscription 'Tongzhi Tongbao.' The characters are deeply relief-cast with robust, well-defined strokes typical of Qing dynasty cash coinage. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central square hole flanked on either side by a single Manchu word in vertical relief, separated by the perforation. The left character reads 'Boo' and the right character reads 'i', together forming the mint name 'Boo-i' (Ili). The Manchu script is cast in a plain field bounded by a raised inner rim and smooth outer border, with minimal decorative detail consistent with a trial or pattern strike. |
