The characters read 'Boo-chang' (ᠪᠣᠣ ᠴᠠᠩ), identifying the Chang Mint (常) as the place of issue. The field is plain and unadorned, enclosed by a simple raised outer rim, consistent with standard Qing dynasty cash coinage practice. The Manchu script characters are cast in moderate relief and show considerable wear on this example. |
