| Reverse description | Cast reverse displaying a central square perforation surrounded by two Manchu (Qing script) characters in the standard mint-name format, positioned to the left and right of the square hole. The characters read 'Boo-chang' (ᠪᠣᠣ ᠴᠠᠩ), identifying the Chang Mint (常) as the place of issue. The field is plain and unadorned, enclosed by a simple raised outer rim, consistent with standard Qing dynasty cash coinage practice. The Manchu script characters are cast in moderate relief and show considerable wear on this example. |
