| Beschrijving voorzijde | Cast brass cash coin bearing four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform reading order — top, bottom, right, left — around a central square hole: 天啓通寶 (Tianqi Tongbao). The characters are rendered in bold, well-defined strokes within the coin's flat field, framed by a raised inner rim surrounding the square perforation and a raised outer rim along the coin's periphery. The overall design is typical of Ming Dynasty cast coinage, with the reign title 天啓 (Tianqi) flanking the vertical axis and the denomination inscription 通寶 (Tongbao, meaning "circulating treasure") on the horizontal axis. |
