| Obverse description | Cast brass cash coin featuring a central square perforation framed by a raised square rim. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are disposed in the four quadrants around the central hole, read in the traditional order top-bottom-right-left: 紹 (top), 通 (right), 治 (bottom), 寳 (left), forming the reign title and monetary inscription 紹治通寳 (Thiệu Trị Thông Bảo). The characters are bold and deeply cast in relief against a flat, unadorned field, enclosed within a plain raised outer rim. |
