| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse features a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim, with four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform order around the central hole, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 紹隆通寶 (Thiệu Long Thông Bảo). The characters are boldly cast in raised relief within a flat inner field. A narrow inner rim borders the central square hole, and a broader raised outer rim frames the coin's circumference. The surface displays an aged patina consistent with cast copper alloy, with areas of green verdigris typical of extended burial or circulation. |

The Thiệu Long reign period corresponds to the immediate aftermath of the first Mongol invasion of Đại Việt in 1258, when Kublai Khan's forces under Uriyangkhadai briefly occupied Thăng Long before being driven out. The Trần court, having fled by boat down the Red River, returned to rebuild both the capital and its institutions — coinage among them. Cash issues from this period are poorly documented in Vietnamese numismatic literature, and Barker's attribution remains one of the few systematic reference points for this reign type.
