| Additional information |
Thái Đức was the reign title of Nguyễn Nhạc, the eldest of the three Tây Sơn brothers whose rebellion dismantled Nguyễn lord rule in the south and briefly unified much of Vietnam under their control. Nguyễn Nhạc proclaimed himself emperor in 1778, establishing his capital at Quy Nhơn. The crescent and dot on this cash mark a specific mint or batch variant catalogued by Barker and Toda — private marks whose precise administrative significance remains incompletely understood.
