| Obverse description | Central square hole surrounded by four bold Chinese characters in kaishu (standard script), arranged in cruciform fashion around the perforation: 順 (Shun) above, 治 (Zhi) below, 通 (Tong) to the right, and 寶 (Bao) to the left, reading top-to-bottom then right-to-left as 順治通寶 — the reign title and denomination legend of the Shunzhi Emperor. The characters are rendered in high relief against a flat, unadorned field, with a plain raised rim encircling the design. No additional ornaments or mint marks appear on this face. |
