| Obverse description | Cast copper cash coin of traditional East Asian type, centered on a square perforation framed by a raised inner rim. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are disposed in the four quadrants surrounding the central hole, read in the conventional order — top, bottom, right, left — forming the reign legend 光中通寶 (Quang Trung Thông Bảo). The characters are boldly raised in relief against a flat field, with a raised outer rim encircling the coin. The overall style is consistent with Vietnamese Tây Sơn-dynasty casting practice of the late eighteenth century. |
