Additional information

Quang Trung — born Nguyễn Huệ — was the second emperor of the Tây Sơn dynasty and arguably the most militarily gifted commander in Vietnamese history, having routed a 200,000-strong Qing Chinese invasion force at the Battle of Đống Đa in 1789 while this coinage was already in circulation. His reign lasted only four years before his sudden death in 1792 at around age 40, ending what many historians consider the most dramatic interruption of Nguyễn dynastic ambitions the region ever saw. The cash series issued under his reign is accordingly brief.

Toda 188 and Barker 94.1 align on this type without recorded die varieties of note.
