| Obverse description | Round cast iron coin with a central square perforation, typical of Tang dynasty cash coinage. The obverse field bears four Chinese characters arranged in cruciform fashion reading clockwise: 乾元重寶 (Qianyuan Zhongbao), cast in relief against a flat, unadorned field. The characters are rendered in regular script (kaishu) and exhibit the bold, somewhat crude casting characteristic of provincial iron issues. The rim is a plain, raised border encircling the legend, and the surfaces show heavy oxidation and encrustation consistent with an iron alloy of this period. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is plain and featureless, displaying only a flat field surrounding the central square hole, with a raised outer rim. No inscription, decoration, or mint mark is present. The surface exhibits coarse, pitted texture characteristic of cast iron coinage, with reddish-brown iron oxide patina distributed across the entire reverse face. The square perforation rim (inner rim) is slightly raised on this side as well. |
