| Obverse description | Central square hole flanked by four Chinese characters arranged in cruciform fashion, read top-to-bottom and right-to-left in the traditional manner. The legend reads 'Qian Long Tong Bao' (乾隆通寶), rendered in regular script (kaishu). The characters occupy the four quadrants of the field, separated by the raised rims of the square perforation. The coin surface shows the characteristic flat, unadorned field typical of Qing dynasty cast cash coinage. |
