| Reverse description | The reverse features two Manchu script characters flanking the central square perforation, one to the left and one to the right, each read vertically in accordance with Manchu writing convention. Together they form the mint name 'Boo-yūn' (ᠪᠣᠣ ᠶᡡᠨ), identifying the Yunnan provincial mint. The characters are rendered in the cursive Manchu style typical of Qing cash coinage, set within a plain raised inner border, with an unadorned outer rim. The field is otherwise blank, allowing the mint inscription to serve as the sole identifying device. |
