| Obverse description | Cast brass cash coin featuring four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform reading order around a central square hole: top to bottom reads 'Qian' (乾) and 'Tong' (通), right to left reads 'Long' (隆) and 'Bao' (寶), together forming the reign title legend 'Qianlong Tongbao'. The characters are boldly rendered in raised relief within a flat, unadorned field, enclosed by a plain raised rim. The square hole is cleanly cast and centrally placed, flanked symmetrically by the four ideograms. |
