| Obverse description | Round cast brass cash coin with a square central perforation surrounded by a raised inner rim. Four Chinese characters in kaishu (regular script) are arranged in the cardinal positions around the central hole and read in the traditional top-bottom, right-left sequence to form the four-character legend 乾隆通寶 (Qianlong Tongbao, 'Qianlong Universal Currency'): 乾 (Qian) at top, 隆 (Long) at bottom, 通 (Tong) at right, and 寶 (Bao) at left. The boldly raised characters stand in crisp relief against a flat, recessed field. A wide, plain raised outer rim encircles the entire design, consistent with standard Qianlong-era casting practice. |
