正面描述 Cast brass cash coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform fashion reading top-to-bottom, right-to-left: 乾 (Qian), 隆 (Long), 通 (Tong), 寶 (Bao). The legend 乾隆通寶 (Qianlong Tongbao), meaning 'Circulating Treasure of the Qianlong [era]', occupies the four quadrants of the obverse field. The characters are rendered in bold relief against a flat field, enclosed within an outer rim and an inner square rim framing the central hole. The coin displays typical Qing-dynasty casting style with pronounced patination and verdigris consistent with age.

附加信息

The Boo-nan mint — romanized from the Manchu inscription identifying the Hunan provincial facility — was one of dozens of regional mints operating under Board of Revenue oversight during the Qianlong reign. That reign lasted 60 years, making it the longest of any Qing emperor, though Qianlong abdicated in 1796 to avoid surpassing his grandfather Kangxi in formal regnal years. Production quality and alloy consistency varied considerably across the provincial mints, and Hunan examples are known to differ from Beijing-struck cash in both flan preparation and brass composition, reflecting local metal supply constraints rather than any standardized imperial formula.
