Obverse description Cast brass cash coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in cruciform fashion reading top-to-bottom, right-to-left: 乾 (Qian), 隆 (Long), 通 (Tong), 寶 (Bao). The legend 乾隆通寶 (Qianlong Tongbao), meaning 'Circulating Treasure of the Qianlong [era]', occupies the four quadrants of the obverse field. The characters are rendered in bold relief against a flat field, enclosed within an outer rim and an inner square rim framing the central hole. The coin displays typical Qing-dynasty casting style with pronounced patination and verdigris consistent with age.
