Obverse description Round copper cash coin with a central square perforation, cast in the traditional Chinese style. The obverse field bears four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform fashion around the central square hole, reading clockwise from the top: 乾 (Qian), 通 (Tong), 隆 (Long), 寶 (Bao), forming the legend QIANLONG TONGBAO — the reign title of the Qianlong Emperor posthumously invoked. The raised characters are rendered in bold relief against a flat, unadorned field, with no inner or outer rim decoration visible beyond the coin's irregular cast edge.
