Obverse description Cast copper cash coin featuring four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), disposed in cruciform arrangement around a central square perforation. The legend reads clockwise from top: 乾 (Qián), 隆 (Lóng) to the right, 寶 (Bǎo) at base, and 通 (Tōng) to the left, forming the reign-era inscription 'Qianlong Tongbao' — 'Universal currency of the Qianlong era.' The characters are rendered in bold relief within a plain, unadorned field, bounded by a raised outer rim and the inner raised rim of the square hole.
