| Obverse description | Four Chinese characters in running script (xingshu) arranged in cruciform reading clockwise around a central square perforation: 元 (top), 寶 (right), 通 (bottom), 豐 (left), together forming the reign title and legend Nguyên Phong Thông Bảo. The characters are rendered in a fluid, cursive calligraphic style characteristic of the running script tradition. The coin displays a plain raised rim encircling the field, with no additional decorative elements. The surface shows typical casting texture with verdigris patination consistent with the age and copper alloy composition. |
