| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central square hole surrounded by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in the traditional cross-reading order: top (明, Minh), bottom (德, Đức), right (通, Thông), left (寶, Bảo), together forming the reign legend 'Minh Đức Thông Bảo.' The characters are rendered in raised relief within defined fields separated by a plain inner rim bordering the square perforation. The outer rim is raised and slightly irregular, consistent with the cast production technique. The overall style follows the conventions of Vietnamese cash coinage of the late eighteenth century. |
