Obverse description Central square perforation surrounded by a plain raised rim on both inner and outer edges. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) arranged in cruciform reading order: top to bottom and right to left, reading 康熙通寶 (Kangxi Tongbao). The characters are boldly cast in relief within a plain field, with no additional ornamentation. The coin displays the characteristic flat, unadorned style of Qing dynasty cash coinage.
