Obverse description Central square perforation surrounded by a flat, unrimmed field bearing four crudely rendered Chinese characters arranged in the four cardinal positions around the hole, reading clockwise as the legend 開大通寳 (Kai Da Tong Bao). The characters are rendered in a notably rough, informal script style consistent with the crude provincial casting practices of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. The outer rim is irregular and unraised, reflecting the primitive casting technique employed. Heavy encrustation and patina are present throughout the field.

Reverse description Plain, unadorned reverse featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a flat, featureless field with no legend, decorative elements, or inner rim. A faint raised ring is visible around the square hole, consistent with the casting process. The surface displays the same dark lead patina and mineral encrustation as the obverse, with an irregular outer edge characteristic of primitive sand or clay mould casting.
